You have made us laugh till we cried on Saturday Night Live!
The hilarity began in 2005.
You would make us LOL, ROTFL and LMAO.
But on to greater things you now go.
I know it my dear Kristen, yes I know.
My DVR will miss you and so will I.
See you on the big screen soon,
And here’s mud in your eye!
No Sweat Regret
Two young friends enter a building one day
each coming in a different way
an office party was their destiny
way, way up on floor twenty-three
An elevator seems to invite
a man who ponders on the height
the stairs stand quiet, stark and cold
a challenge to those that are so bold
One man rises floor by floor
the other just passed the second story door
each in choosing his separate path
has predetermined the aftermath
The first man arrives and enjoys the fun
there’s politicking to be done
good words to the men of the company
a higher position he’s assured to see
The other arrives with a sweaty brow
the party’s really going now
his young friend questions his tardiness
the President he has just missed
“He said he had another date, for which he was extremely late”
the other said with flair
“I passed him walking up the stairs”.

Tonight I’m starting a new series that I call “Stuff I Wrote When I Was Just a Boy”. I will put the approximate origination date of “publication” at the end. Please let me know what you think…and remember…I was just a boy.
A caterpillar once content
with life upon the cool cement
now seems anxious and unsure
of how much more it can endure
Enclosing himself till all is dark
the life support a piece of bark
this solitude will be his chance
for inner growth and form expanse
Then once again he sees the light
for transformation gave him flight
a broader horizon than before
the whole of life he now adores
The former world won’t understand
his change calls for no reprimand
’cause though he’s acquired a strange new being
he’s still just a caterpillar with wings.
